Teresa Pinto Correia
Teresa Pinto Correia, President of IALE-Europe, presents her experience of working in the cultural wood-pasture landscapes of the Montado in Portugal. Her presentation summarises the close relationship between cultivation, grazing and forestry and the cultural landscapes and traditions that connect people and nature. She considers the management of the Natura 2000 site of Monfurado, which is recognised as one of the most important High Nature Conservation Farmland areas in Europe. She describes the need for new forms of governance that support farmers, address complex decision making processes and resolve conflicting policy priorities.
